Solihull Ramblers

We are a group of individuals with a shared interest in walking and the outdoors. We have a busy and varied programme of walks throughout the year. Most weeks, walkers have a choice of three, and sometimes, four walks in the week. These are on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.  Walks are mainly in the leisurely and moderate categories with the occasional easy or strenuous walk. They vary in length from about three to 14 miles, so there is something to suit most people.

Our walks are equally varied in their location; shorter walks being relatively close-by in Solihull and Warwickshire, and longer walks take us further afield into surrounding counties and can include some marvellous hillwalking areas such as the Cotswolds, Derbyshire Peak District and Dales, and the Shropshire Hills.

Each year we have a weekend holiday in this country, and an overseas holiday. In 2019 our weekend holiday was based in Weymouth, providing terrain quite different from our 2018 Windermere weekend with opportunities exploring great walks in Wainwright and Wordsworth country.

We had a glorious week of sunshine and some great walking in Majorca in 2018, and in northern Greece in 2019. For 2020 there were walking holidays planned for the Elan Valley, Italy and Paris but unfortunately they were cancelled because of the pandemic. The holidays have now resumed with mainly long weekends - 2024 to the Peak District and the Isle of Wight. For 2025 we're planning a spring weekend in Herefordshire, and a week in Cinque Terre in May.

We have an active path maintenance group called The Bramblers, which helps to keep paths open and accessible for the enjoyment of all users.

Our Committee oversees and co-ordinates Group activities, and it meets four times a year and arranges the Group's AGM.
